Obesity and failure in diets

Lots of books and numerous diets on the Internet show many approaches to weight loss. Sometimes it works, sometimes less so. Countless guides have been published, some with completely opposing views on how losing weight should actually work. And Google returns an impressive 25,600,000 hits when you enter the word „diet“ into the search engine.

Certainly some diets such as alkaline fasting, raw food diets and others have their place. These diets are limited in time and that is a good thing. We would like to point out that we are not enthusiastic about, for example, a purely raw food diet. There are numerous reasons against this which we will not go into further here.

So why do diets work for some and not for others?

Certain diets work for certain people because they happen to fit that person’s physical problem. If there is another underlying problem, the diet will fail! And the so-called yo-yo effect will quickly catch up with you. In addition, some diets are hardly feasible in our professional and social lives.

Using exercise to lose weight? It is important to eat a balanced diet and exercise. The reason for this is that muscle mass is built, fat is burned and our bones are strengthened. Conclusion: Muscle tissue uses more energy than fat tissue. In plain language, this means that more muscular people burn more calories even while sitting on the couch than the obese person sitting next to them.

But weight loss through exercise only works for people with healthy adrenal function. If you have a weak adrenal gland, exercise will only frustrate you and will not have or show any weight-reducing effect.

Disturbances in the intestines, especially our pH value, virulent factors, parasitic factors, toxins, food intolerances and of course our associated microbiome, are also absolute killers for lasting weight loss.

Conclusion: If you are overweight, often with diet failure, urgent examinations of your hormonal balance, especially thyroid levels (TSH, ft3, ft4, possibly antibodies), are necessary. As well as adrenal hormones and other important hormones (melatonin, cortisol, DHEA, etc.). Additionally, a basic intestinal screening is needed to assess the above-mentioned factors that affect our microbiome.

We often observe that chronically ill people like to eat fast food. This doesn’t just mean food from a fast food restaurant, but also food from a can, ready-to-eat food from a bag or fix-it products. If the intestinal flora (microbiome) is imbalanced, the appetite for sugar increases, the reward center of the brain reacts to taste enhancers, and we literally crave such foods. This form of nutrient ordering is particularly noticeable in pregnant women. Suddenly, cravings develop for all kinds of different foods.

In addition to the well-known parameters, the following are important: poor nutrition, excessive calorie intake and lack of exercise, stress and emotions. Our hormonal system or our intestinal health.

Some examples of how a hormone imbalance affects our eating behavior:

• If the hormones leptin / ghrelin are in the wrong ratio to each other, i.e. the leptin value is too low and the ghrelin value is too high, hunger is increased. You will eat more food.
• If the dopamine level is too low, the feeling of satiety occurs late; the same applies to reduced serotonin levels.
• If the cortisol level is permanently too high, the body stores more fat.

To test all the important hormones that can influence our weight, we recommend our saliva test. As with the basic intestinal screening, the analysis is carried out in a German alternative medical laboratory. After the findings, an individual therapy plan for weight loss through hormonal balance is created. In our opinion, a meaningful nutritional plan only makes sense if a basic intestinal screening is carried out. This is the only way to ensure that foods that appear to be healthy still put a strain on and disrupt this organism.
