Sterility of men and women and unfulfilled desire to have children

Basics:

There are numerous reasons for unfulfilled desire for children. Unfortunately, there are usually multiple causes, not just one.

Even previous pregnancies or conceptions are not a guarantee for successful fertilization and pregnancy in the future.

Stress is also a problem! It can stem from one’s own stress or emotional stress, as well as from others. This is mainly due to indirect pressure, usually from the woman’s parents – “When will I finally become a grandmother? Just relax and it will be fine…”. Such statements are not helpful and only increase the pressure on those involved.

But it cannot be solely attributed to stress, otherwise populations in war-torn areas would have already become extinct.

Causes and hormonal disorders

If the blessing of children does not come, many different aspects can contribute to it, affecting both men and women. Individually and collectively, they can be the cause of unfulfilled desire for having children.

Reasons for women:

• Anatomical causes (malformations, adhesions of the fallopian tubes – ovaries and/or uterus)
(rare cause)
• Consequences of diseases after inflammation, chemotherapy, vaginosis
• Diseases of sex hormones -endometriosis, PCOS syndrome (common causes), POF syndrome
(entry intomenopause before the age of 40)
   (rare cause)
• Stress (common cause)
• Chronic inflammation (common cause)
• Excessive weight (common cause)
• Insufficient body weight / anorexia (rare cause)
• Disorders of ovulation cycle or egg maturation (common cause)
• Antibodies against husband’s sperm (rare cause)
• Lack of exercise (common cause)
• Diet (important aspect – common cause)
• Coagulation disorders (rare cause)
• Sterilization, hysterectomy
• Hormonal changes (most important aspect, very common cause, with reference to the entire
hormonal system – ovaries adrenal glands – thyroid – pituitary / hypothalamus)
• Weak adrenal glands (important aspect, very often related to general hormonal dysfunction or changes)
• Inadequate supply or lack of vitamins, trace elements and minerals (common cause)

Reasons for men:

• Anatomical causes (malformations or adhesions of the vas deferens) (rare cause)
• Insufficient and/or immobile and/or pathologically altered sperm, no sperm production – abnormal spermogram
• Diseases after inflammation, chemotherapy (rare causes)
• Stress (common cause)
• Erectile dysfunction (common cause)
• Lack of ejaculate release
• Antibodies against own sperm
• Hormonal changes (most important aspect, very common cause, with reference to the entire hormonal system – testicles adrenal glands – thyroid – pituitary / hypothalamus)
• Weak adrenal glands (important aspect, very often related to general hormonal dysfunctions or changes)
• Inadequate supply or lack of vitamins, trace elements and minerals (common cause)

To be successful when trying to have children, the entire system, including factors causing stress, must be examined very thoroughly. From the perspective of alternative medicine, we believe that therapy based solely on hormone levels in the blood is not very promising. Furthermore, we believe that hormone tests urgently need to be done in saliva, not exclusively in blood. Because here the proportion of excess free hormones can be better assessed. In simple terms, this means that a hormone can be within normal limits in the blood test, but not in saliva.

Procedure in our practice if you want to have children:

Detailed information first discussed holistic approaches, options if you want to have children – possible blood tests – possible saliva tests in our laboratory in Germany, stress and emotion tests as needed (HRV measurement) to assess stress index and autonomic nervous system (sympathetic – parasympathetic).

Summary of all data recorded from the initial interview, examination and tests, as well as laboratory tests (blood – saliva), nutritional status, and exercise. (second conversation)

Development and implementation of an individual alternative medical therapy plan, taking into account all relevant data and following approximately 4-6 months of therapy (with an additional consultation in our practice every 6 weeks).
