Dynamic Traction Therapy

Dynamic extension therapy for the treatment of back pain

The new dynamic extension device “SwingMED” offers a promising opportunity to treat various spinal problems using a conservative therapy – efficient and well tolerated. The device “SwingMED” is characterized by a very convenient handling of the treatment and offers an active principle of the dynamic extension therapy in a form that is even better adapted to the requirements of the patient.

Innovation and enrichment of the therapeutic spectrum

Within the spectrum of physical therapy measures for the treatment of back pain, the extension treatment has shown great results in many cases in addition to the movement therapy. The benefit of this treatment principle has now been further enhanced by the further development of the active principle of dynamic extension therapy.

Proven principle for spinal therapy

Based on the millennia-old proven principle of spine stretching treatment, the new extension device SwingMED has been developed by the firm TKH-Medical in collaboration with Univ.-Prof. Dr. Erich Mur from the Medical University of Innsbruck.

Duration of application per session 60 min. with previous PPT massage or SpineSpider treatment, 5 – 10 treatment sessions depending on the problem.

Main indication of dynamic extension

The main indication of dynamic extension with SwingMED are degenerative diseases of the spine, in particular of the lumbar spine (low back pain), and very good therapeutic results have been achieved with disc degeneration (protrusion, prolapse) and pain caused by arthrotic changes of the small vertebral joints.

Even patients who have already completed a traditional traction therapy without success should try the SwingMED. Since the effect is not comparable.

Further applications of SwingMED:

  • Blocking of the small vertebral joints
  • Facet joint syndrome
  • Tension of the back muscles
  • Sciatica and radiculopathy
  • Coxarthrosis (hip osteoarthritis)
  • Sciatica, ischialgia (pain radiating from the lumbar spine to the leg)
  • Lumbago (acute lumbago)
  • Condition after disc surgery (after healing)

Possible contraindications

Possible contraindications for SwingMED treatments are:

  • Fusion surgery of the spine and disc prostheses
  • Block vortices, depending on the degree of solidification
  • Tumours in the area of the spine
  • Sliding vertebrae of the spine, Cauda equina
  • Fresh unhealed fractures in the area of the spine
  • Ankylosing spondylitis, when already in the stage of ossification (in the initial stage therapies often lead to pain relief)
  • Pronounced osteoporosis
  • Retinal detachment, glaucoma
  • Epilepsy, neurosis, psychosis
  • Clinically relevant diseases of the cardiovascular system (valvular, cardiac arrhythmias, angina pectoris, status post Apoplex, not adequately set art. Hypertension, PAD), lung (COPD), liver, kidney, intestine
  • Prostheses in hips and knees (safe healing? Signs of loosening?)
  • Severe ligament injuries of the lower extremities

In any case, the benefits and risks of the treatment are to be weighed against each other. In many cases, at least phase 1 and phase 2 of the therapy procedure can be completed.

Patients who are not allowed to use SwingMED therapy due to health reasons (absolute contraindication) and are experiencing problems with intervertebral discs in the lumbosacral region can take advantage of the proven Orthomaax therapy or the COX intervertebral disc therapy.
